Hello all in the Name of Christ,
I have just read some information on the Joint conference of restoration Branches and the entry in Wikipedia in the subject of the Restoration branches. Also I have been looking through the D&C about the subject of the first presidency. Some use the first presidency and some do not. I am of a group who does not use this office. I would like to study with others to see where they do or do not believe this should be in use today. I know from the Bible and Book of Mormon there really was no first presidency. Christ ordained only 12 Apostles (disciples, elders, etc.) and they collectively were the "head" of the church.
So now I also see from the D&C that the 1st Pres was an office seperate from the Apostles? Could this be because this was to be a temporary office just to get the church "going"? Or was it meant to go on within the church?
Just getting different opinions on this subject.
Thanks,
Tom
