Something I noticed....
If we take the statement: Israel had Saul for a king.

and take the Hebrew translation of the the word "Saul"......"asked".....and replace it in the statement.....we get:

Israel had asked for a king. Which is the story of how he became king........

I don't have any examples in front of me right now, but the Book of Mormon may be full of this same kind of thing when it comes to names. Sometimes the name we read as a given name may well have been a descriptive name given by Mormon during the translation. If I can find examples of this I will post them.
