Thanks Carrie for taking the time to post your thoughts.
These times are so very trying for all Christians.
The scriptures say in the last times the enemy will seek to wear out the saints.
I have felt the same as you on many occasions, that is why I appreciate your sharing your walk with us on this forum.
I have been banned from (so called Christian) forums because they saw I posted on this forum. Now what kind of love of Jesus does that show?
I just forgive em and pray for their path to have a little compassion in the future.
Being raised rlds was another group of believers that some thought they had cornered the market on revelations.
After attending a few other kinds of churches, and hearing some squirrely words brought forth as well as some sincere ones,
I slowly learned Christians are only people that have made a decision to believe in Jesus.
Some believe and follow the path they were born into.
And as you say they teach one another to not stray from that group. Believing it is safe to have some one over them that can tell them what to do.
Time spent in a home bible study was another trip to learn from. People have the same weakness in their Christianity as before salvation. If they are greedy, they preach getting.
If they have a lust of flesh, they overlook any of those issues. Using grace to cover what they feel they can't change.
Some look for new things and want to have their own spiritual walk, their own revelation. Guess I fall into that category, maybe when the rlds went liberal ( imo)
and I jumped ship. Love all the people I have worshiped with thru the last thirty five years, and now find fellowship in many places, and forums as well.
And so we wait, pray, live a life of faith in all of the Word we have, always praying for 'more light and truth to break forth from His Word.'
I recall one older preacher saying, we are a church with three sacred books, then added I want to put the hymnal along side, for it has brought truth to me many times.
pardon the long post.
