Your thinking along the lines of a difference in the disciples before and after the Pentecost has truth in it.
I have been thinking along those lines myself. I recognize God must step up and do something to help us out here.
At the same time, I realize this ... that Jesus said those who were faithful in a few things, would be trusted with more. And, I recognize there is a certain degree of endowment available now, that awaits those who step out in faith. In other words, there are gifts we can obtain even now, before the endowment, and I believe those who seek those out with all their might, and seek to use them for the benefit of the Kingdom, (sometimes risking getting egg on their face, actually getting out of the boat and attempting to walk on water, even if they might sink and have to be rescued) are much more likely to be given more.
Peter, James, and John received much more than the other disciples, because they weren't satisfied. They wanted more!!!
