A copy of that color-highlited document you mention is still in my possession as well. I remember reading it and wondering how much of my own Utah D&C I could trust.
Further, I too felt that something was off in what we had passed down to us as Paul's teachings. This view was cemented by some writings I recall from this site, and from Bro. Livingston.
That was 2002. At the time, I prayed heartily about Joseph Smith and received enough witness that I decided to shelve my worries about alteration/consistency as something I'd deal with at a later date. I'm glad I waited.
